Racists force family from south Belfast home

A Nepalese family living in the Ormeau Road area of south Belfast have been forced out of their home by racist intimidation.

One family member said the house had been targeted by racists for over three years and most recently an acid bomb was thrown at the house and a gang attempted to kick the front door in.

Notes with Nazi skull symbols and 'whites only' written on them have been left on their front door.

Belfast has seen an increase in racist attacks in recent years, as the peace process allows immigration to increase.
Racist British neo-nazi groups have attempted to establish links with Ulster loyalists over many years, most recently when remnants of Combat18 in the north west of England established links with the Loyalist Volunteer Force and Johnny Adair's renegade C Company of the Ulster Defence Association, whilst there have been attempts to prevent this by the PUP.

Sinn Féin spokesperson on ethnic minorites issues, Gerry Mc Hugh MLA said, 'Racist attacks and intimidation have steadily increased since 1996 and members of minority communities report relatively high levels of harrassment. Sinn Fein urges those involved in attacking this family to grow up and think about their actions. The PSNI must also do more to ensure racist attacks are confronted and eradicated.'
