The BBC website is reporting that a commander of Colombia's right-wing paramilitary AUC has alleged that two members of the current government previously conspired with the group. In a court hearing in Medellin, Salvatore Mancuso said he met the country's current vice-president and defence minister in the 1990s. This apparent evidence of collusion between rightwing paramilitaries and the government, whose long war has seen hundreds of trades unionists killed over the past 40 years is also damaging to the British government who continues to provide 'military intelligence aid' and license arms exports worth over £7million since 2000.
